Last year I began a study on Ash Wednesday, Lent and Easter. There in that study I found that the season of Lent actually starts with Fat Tuesday, also known as Carnival. Fat Tuesday is a huge holiday celebrated all over the world. It is a day where people gather together to celebrate before the 40 days of fasting for Lent. I have celebrated Easter my entire life. The family traditions of Easter baskets filled with candy and toys were something I looked forward to every year as a child. As I got older and began having children of my own, I relished in starting my own family traditions. When my kids were old enough I would help them dye boiled eggs and I would carefully pick out special treats and toys to fill up their Easter baskets. As I write this, it is Easter 2016. I came into the Easter season with very little excitement this year. Before I was a Christian, I quite enjoyed Easter. I loved to hide plastic eggs filled with candy for my kids in our backyard. We would spend time the night before filling the eggs and hiding them for the kids, so they would believe the Easter bunny brought them.
